Priority
management is NOT a black and white science!
It’s not just calendars, task lists and deadlines that can be filled in
and color coded…and then executed with perfection!
It’s an
animal! It has a mind of its own: the
mind of everyone else connected to your schedule and routine! Time doesn’t always consult you before it
makes a bolt in a new direction or throws a screaming emergency across your
path! Neither does it listen to reason;
it has its own agenda and priorities!
Time is a
wild mustang running out of control: Nostrils flaring, hooves beating and his
mane waving the wind… staring you in defiance. You must learn to put a
BIT in his mouth, a SADDLE on his back and your feet in the STIRRUPS! Its got to be COMMANDED!
IT’S A HABIT
I Can Change Your Life
I am your
constant companion. I am your greatest helper or your heaviest
burden. I will push you onward or drag
you down to failure. I am completely at your command. Half the things you do you might just as well
turn over to me and I will be able to do them quickly and correctly.
I am easily
managed – You must merely be FIRM with me. Show me exactly how you want
something done and after a few lessons I will do them automatically. I am
the servant of all great individuals and, alas of all failure as well.
I am not a
machine, though I work with all the precision of a machine plus the
intelligence of a human. You may run me for a profit or run me for ruin –
it makes no difference to me.
Take me,
train me, be FIRM with me, and I will place the world at your feet.
Be easy with
me and I will destroy you.
Who am I?
(7 Habits of Highly Effective People –
Stephen Covey)
Priority
management isn’t a quick fix from a day of workshops. It takes time and focused determination to
recognize and forge good habits into place.
It’s contrary to the path of least resistance. There is opposition to good habits. The habits we have got us to where we are
today. The habits we determine to forge
into a smarter way of living will take us into tomorrow!
It has to be
done correctly again and again and again until it becomes so deeply lodged in
our mental muscle repetition that it has become “second nature.” Ask
yourself, “Is that where my goal setting, time blocking and a daily categorized
task list is in my daily routine? How
much of a habit is it?
PRIORITY MANAGEMENT IS A GATEWAY
>>>There are portals in your business you will not get through or maintain until
you have your priorities and time under command.
>>>Incredible career opportunities and advancement
are waiting anxiously for you to get control of your productivity and schedule.
>>>How
much responsibility you can handle
is in direct proportion to how well you manage
your time / priorities…for yourself and through others.
The bottom
line: it’s up to you to get back in Command of Your Daily Routine
